At HCA Healthcare, our mission is to care for and improve human life, and few embody this mission as fully as Genesis. One specific situation that highlights her dedication is a personal experience. Genesis made sure to always check on me and made it clear that she was a safe space for me.

When I encountered a conflict and bullying, Genesis was not only respectful of my request to remain anonymous, but also made sure to address the situation in such a professional manner. She advocated for me as a new nurse and made sure to stand up for me. She reassured me that I wasn’t alone and took extra care to address the situation appropriately.

Exemplifying HCA’s mission, vision, and values, a particularly challenging case arose when a critical care patient experienced a rapid decline due to sepsis. The bedside nurses, including a new graduate nurse, faced high stress and uncertainty. Recognizing the moment as an opportunity for learning and patient-centered care, Genesis stepped in—not only to guide the team clinically but also to exemplify compassion, accountability, and integrity.
