Erin has stepped up to help lead the herculean effort to reduce workplace violence by reducing patient behavioral events at Wolfson.
It's hard enough to take over the role as nurse manager for a unit that is well established, but one that is rapidly growing and changing is an entirely different ball game! Erin took on this exuberant role as the nurse manager for the Peds behavioral health unit and has led this team in an amazing direction! This role is not only challenging, but one that requires a lot of grit and tenacity! She is rocking this position, and we all are thankful for her skills and leadership!

Erin McVicker embodies all the qualities of a DAISY Nurse Leader. As a new nurse manager, she has guided her team through the rough terrain of pediatric and adolescent inpatient mental health services in our country today. It is fraught with huge demand for services, and to meet this demand in our community, she has led her team through a large expansion. For a myriad of reasons, fewer providers and caregivers are choosing this area of practice. This often means rethinking and restructuring to meet the tremendous demands of service with limited human and financial resources.
Recruiting and retaining personnel, restructuring how we deliver care to ensure safety for patients and staff, and improving care quality and the patient experience have been her clear priorities. She has done this through role modeling our Baptist Health Core Values for advocacy, respect, excellence, and stewardship. She has created a work environment that ensures standards of quality patient care are maintained by fostering teamwork and professional collaboration. Through role modeling and coaching, Erin has created a work environment where attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development, and ethical behavior are modeled and supported.
Recently, Erin has stepped up to help lead the herculean effort to reduce workplace violence by reducing patient behavioral events at Wolfson. Through her efforts as a subject matter expert for pediatric behavioral health, we will be piloting a violence risk assessment and appropriate interventions for high-risk patients, which will most likely be implemented systemwide. Her goal is to reduce these harmful events and make the therapeutic environment safer for both patients and team members. This is what compassionate leadership and caring for team members, patients, and families look like. We are so fortunate that she shares her gifts with us at Wolfson.
Congratulations, Erin; thank you for all you do for our patients, families, and team members! You are an inspiration to us all!
