***
Empowering Staff & Enhancing Care
Under Diedre’s leadership, patient care, staff efficiency, and satisfaction have improved markedly. She launched early morning nursing discharges to streamline pediatric rounds and is piloting a Discharge Nurse role to ease workload and boost workflow. Diedre actively mentors unit leaders and shows appreciation in small, meaningful ways—like making waffles at dawn for both shifts.
***
Driving Innovation
Diedre champions quality improvements, including:
***
Training staff to manage babies needing double/triple phototherapy, avoiding NICU transfers
Partnering with Patient Family Advisors to offer safe sleep swaddle blankets
Coordinating circumcisions pre-discharge to reduce hospital stays
Enhancing prenatal education through discharge videos
Advocating for Patients & Families
Diedre also addresses social determinants of health. When a first-time mother experienced anxiety post-discharge, Diedre personally ensured she received critical support services.
***
Positive Impact
Her leadership has lifted postpartum patient experience scores from 84% (Q4 2024) to 93% (Q1 2025), thanks to initiatives like leader rounding and interdisciplinary collaboration.
***
A Transformational Leader
In just months, Diedre has transformed her unit, empowered her team, and elevated patient outcomes. Her impact is deep, visible, and inspiring—making her an ideal candidate for the Daisy Nurse Leader of the Year Award.
