Colin continues to impress me by going out of her way to make the best clinical experience possible.  She was placed on a unit that is new to having nursing students.  She worked closely with the nurse manager on the unit to help and encourage the nursing staff to participate with the students.  Colin also went out of the way to find opportunities in the hospital for the students. 
There is one specific thing that sticks out about Colin that makes me believe she should receive the DAISY Faculty Award.  She implemented a new post conference tool with her clinical group.  In class, I would hear students talking about how they love the beads.   It took me a while to put together what the students were talking about until I remembered Colin got permission to start the program Beads of Courage program within her clinical group.  The program is broken down into 12 intentions. Colin uses the beads to correlate between a learning experience and the intentions. She believes strongly in teaching young nurses to take care of themselves and she wanted to start that in nursing school. Her students said that as soon as they get to clinical post conference, they pull out their beads.  It is a nice to time de-stress with a purpose.  It is also something they can carry with them throughout their career.
This is just one example of the many acts that Colin took throughout this semester to make clinical an enjoyable learning experience.  I highly recommend Colin for the DAISY Faculty Award.  I am so happy to have her as part of the clinical faculty here at Duquesne University.  She lives by the mission set by the university and does it with a smile on her face.
