Combining her conviction about the value of Nurse Practitioners with her expertise in primary care, she has developed a scholarly passion for team-building and interprofessional collaboration as a means of improving healthcare.
Cheri has been a consistent exemplar of integrating her scholarly passion for interprofessional education and collaboration into the classroom and clinical spaces. Cheri has always been deeply committed to supporting the role of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) and advocating for the professional contributions and perspectives that NPs bring to the healthcare team. Combining her conviction about the value of Nurse Practitioners with her expertise in primary care, she has developed a scholarly passion for team-building and interprofessional collaboration as a means of improving healthcare. Following this passion, she was a co-founder of the Center for Interprofessional Health (see CV) and continues to be a co-director of Interprofessional Education.
As the co-director of Interprofessional Education, she has truly integrated her scholarly work into the teaching space. She is committed to teaching the value of learning of and about each other as healthcare professionals and that interprofessional partnership is integral for advancing and improving healthcare. As a product of this commitment, Cheri has been a part of the interprofessional teams that have designed interprofessional experiences. Each clinical semester, our learners complete experiences to build knowledge, skills, and confidence in interprofessional collaboration in practice. Further, she has been a partner in developing curriculum for Workplace Interprofessional Learning and Development (WILD series) for ongoing education beyond academic programs.
Dr. Friedrich creates tangible, intentional learning experiences for partnership and interprofessional collaboration in healthcare.
Note: this is Cheri's 3rd DAISY Award!
