I completely won the lottery with my care team.
Thank you for meeting with S and me and giving us a tour of the labor and delivery floor before we had our daughter. During our visit, I shared how my past birth experience at Good Sam was a bit wild when we had our first daughter 8 years ago. I wanted to thank you for listening to me and let you know I felt heard. After leaving the tour, I felt much more comfortable with our choice to have our second baby at Good Sam. I wanted to send you a quick update on my recent experience at the hospital.

I completely won the lottery with my care team. This birth experience was hands down 1,000 times better than I ever could have imagined. I am so happy that this experience helped me close a chapter on my last baby's delivery with such positivity. When I think about giving birth now, I can think about how absolutely wonderful, magical, and comfortable it can be instead of dread, fear, and anxiety. Below are some kudos for my care team. Please, please share with my care team and with whoever will listen!

Courtney, RN:  She explained everything so well with such kindness, allowing me to make informed decisions as a patient. An absolute gem and always said “Thank you!” to US with a kind smile every time she left the room. How does she even remember everything she needs to ask and say!!(?)

Stacie, RN: She was an absolute epic cheerleader during pushing. Kept the vibe on point with her energy and upbeat attitude the whole time. I loved hearing her stories and seeing pictures of her cats! She just kept things so fun and personable, which helped me feel comfortable. After delivering, she was just the absolute best, helping me to the restroom and taking charge to assist with the care and cleaning of my personal needs with a smile on her face.

Unknown Nursery RN: Five stars for getting those baby handprints on paper!

Angie, CNM: Took the time to come and chat with us a few times, which I loved because I hadn’t seen her in the clinic during this pregnancy. She has excellent bedside manner and explained everything about my induction, gave me options on what to do next, and helped me make an informed decision about everything. She is so kind and professional.

John ( Anesthesia): This was my second and most favorite epidural! I could actually feel my body, my baby moving, my contractions with no pain— so hard to explain or even believe this was possible to happen. I felt in control of my positions and pushing.

Unknown RN (Early Morning): She was so kind and professional. If I needed someone to help me learn how to use a bedpan again, I would pick her.

Vanessa, RN:  I saw her name on the DAISY Award sign, and that is no surprise! She was attentive and prompt to our needs postpartum and always helped us with a smile on her face. She anticipated and attended to our needs instead of reacting to them. Super proactive! Was so kind to give big sis some stickers to help her feel special when she met little sis. I didn’t get a chance to thank her before her shift ended. Please let her know we deeply appreciate her care!!

Bailey, RN:  Very kind and helpful. Helped us figure out dosing for formula when we had questions.

Unknown Member of the Leadership Team: What an absolute 5-star experience to have someone not on our care team just check in with us to see how things were going. To have someone pop by to ask “how is your experience?” to be proactive about any issues is just amazing. We so appreciated that!!

All CNAs were just great, prompt, kind, and attentive!

A big thank you to Food Service for keeping us fed and to housekeeping for keeping us clean.

Emily, CNM: Wonderful. Took great time to chat about postpartum emotions, thoughts, past experiences, and what to do going forward if things felt wrong (not only physically but mentally!!) I love the emphasis on being open to talk about mental health postpartum. She didn’t just give me one-liners - it was an open, comfortable, honest talk which helped me feel able to be open to sharing.

Kellyn, RN: So helpful and kind, such a calm and comforting presence. She was so thorough and gentle with all our assessments (both mine and baby’s). She took the time to explain my AVS so well at discharge and answered any and all questions. I felt so comfortable asking her anything, and it’s just nice to be able to connect and have a good giggle with someone, even during recovery.

Thank you all again for helping S and me bring our baby into the outside world with kindness and top-notch care.
