Cassandra brought in nail polish and painted my nails
Cassandra Seidler was by far the best nurse I have ever had. I went in for heart valve replacement surgery and woke up to find I had been in a medically induced coma, on ECMO, and it is now two weeks later. Not only was this terrifying to deal with, but I also found out that the world was shut down due to COVID-19, and I couldn't have visitors, which included my husband and five-month-old baby! I could barely talk from all the time I was on the ventilator, and I couldn't move my body because I had been bedridden for so long. To say I was depressed was an understatement. But I always looked forward to when Cassandra would be my nurse again. Cassandra went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, safe, and also heard. She would sit next to me while I cried, feed me when I couldn't use my hands to feed myself, and she even fed me ice chips when I felt like I was going to be sick. I felt completely defeated, especially during physical therapy when I couldn't stand or walk on my own. She was always positive, encouraging, and would tell me how great I was doing. I even have a video she took of me standing with her saying "you go girl!" My husband told her about how much I loved my nails painted, so Cassandra brought in nail polish and painted my nails. My hair was also in knots and she took the time to section my hair and brush it out for me. It was the extra things she did for me that helped me move forward with my recovery. She truly made me feel like I wasn't alone, and for that, I appreciate her very much! Thank you Cassandra, you are awesome!
