Watching her interact with the families, you can see that she remembers the lives she touched, and they remember her.
When thinking about a DAISY Nurse Leader, this person came to mind without hesitation. She was the WIS director and had a highly engaged team and was part of making great improvements and strides in this area. While still in that role, she took on an interim role as the ACNO. I am not sure how she continued to be in both roles for close to a year before handing off, but I am sure that this was a huge undertaking, but she did both and did it well.

In her time as Director, she was the leader and mentor for Del Webb’s Workforce Development Council and, along with her team, did amazing work in bringing events to the campus, as well as practices that are still happening today. She continues in her new role as ACNO to be part of this team, as it is a passion of hers to create a family like atmosphere to our campuses and making them a great place to work.

She is part of both campuses' PFAC committees. Her work with this committee to ensure that patients receive the best care possible in the way that they want to receive it, and working with their loved ones, is truly inspiring. She is also passionate about the WIS reflection garden and part of the annual ceremony that is held for families. Watching her interact with the families, you can see that she remembers the lives she touched, and they remember her. She implemented patient and family partnership agreement letter, created the letter, vetted through PFAC, WFD, and implemented.

She is a big believer in self-care and is always sharing all the different programs available through our wellness app, our chaplains, and Banner Health. She is like a mom, older sister, or aunt, checking in with you and telling you to take care of yourself. “Why haven’t you left yet?” or “I will cover it,” so you can go to a special event.

She celebrates the heart walk, donor life, March of Dimes, and many other events, not because she has to, but because she is truly part of these communities, supports their missions, and encourages others to support them as well.

She has helped her leaders advocate for more positions at all levels to ensure they have the support they need. She covers for people so that they can take PTO. She asks for better understanding, so that she can help you to problem solve and come up with solutions. She asks a lot from us because she knows we are capable, she wants us to grow, and most importantly, wants the best for our patients, because she knows that’s what we are capable of giving.

There is no time when she is unavailable. Even when on PTO, if you were to say I really need you, she would be there. She drives an hour each way to and from work because she believes in this team and these facilities. She is not only here for nursing but is also there for ancillary teams. She partnered with many of the ancillary directors to build relationships across departments to support a culture of safety and support.

She understands the challenges that they face and takes the time to problem solve with them. Even physician partners who have worked with her, express her ability to listen to the issues.  She was a Candor/Talk2Me Co lead as well as a facilitator for the system training and helped to increase Boswells Talk2Me’s by 200 and Del Webb by 130 in 2024 to ensure that the staff was ok after stressful events.

She continues to advance us in our HRO training.  She was the Falls Co lead, helping to reduce total falls at Boswell by 23% and falls with injury by 27% in 2024 and then at Webb by 21% for total falls and 5% with injury. One of the tactics that she helped to implement was post fall phone call leader debrief for opportunities. She helped lead metrics through shared leadership at Boswell with increases of: Oral Care 14.1%, Asp Risk Assessment 2.3%, move 100 feet 20%, Post Med Pain Assessment by 19.8%. Webb increased Oral Care by 7.7%, Move 100 feet by 17%, Post Med Pain Assessment Increase 17.9%. She really wants to understand what the issues are and help to take those away. She partners with our corporate teams to ensure new grad forum is growing and pertinent to the new grads coming in today, she sits on the NPE team and brings value in bringing forward BOSWEBB’s needs or sharing ideas so that all of Banner can grow. I am sure there are many others we are not aware of.

Her passion for the patient comes through in her leading patient experience over the last few years, and she always strives to come up with ways to improve this area. She was the PX Lead and along with her team she helped Boswell’s  ED achieve a 9.4% increase in 2024, making them, #1 in system for medium/large facilities. Webb’s ED achieved an increase of 5.5% She implemented all leader rounding and led the system in leader rounding for 11 months, and was visited by the system PX leads for the day to learn about best practices. In our latest TJC visit, the surveyor said you can see we have a great culture for both patients and staff.

I would say that she meets all the Banner values, TRUST pillars, and HRO principles. She especially seeks to understand everything and seek expert advice when needed. She continues on her own personal growth journey and attended the ANCC Magnet Conference this year as well as is completing a crucial conversations course so that she can be a champion for training leaders on how to use this skill. She was the Voice Lead and, along with a team, planned and coordinated the voice rollout. The BOSWEBB participation was at 90%.  We had an Increase in GPTW at Boswell by 8.4% and at Del Webb by 11.6%. Thank you for all you do for your team and truly making this a great place to work and receive care.

Thank you for all you do to impact the lives not only of the patients but leaders and staff at BOSWEBB.
