I’m a 32 years young patient and I came in with osteomyelitis. I have never been hospitalized in my life. I was scared and very emotional. I had a hard time in the ER first couple of days, and when I came up to the unit, the staff were amazing. From the cleaning staff to my nurses, they were all awesome.

I had this individual nurse, Brenda, and they were fighting and trying to help me get home. That’s all I wanted to do was go home to my babies, my 3 dogs, but I needed infusions every 6-8 hours.

I have Michigan Medicaid, which makes it hard to find people who would pick up my case. Brenda was on the phone all day calling over 90 places for me to get home health care, and still nothing. Her determination should be recognized. It’s frustrating when you’re doing your job, but insurance is the problem.

Brenda didn’t give up there. She tried to work out a different solution to get me home, and hours later, she came in with the biggest smile and told me they had good news. I was able to go home because of Brenda. She was so determined, and you can tell she deeply loves her job and her patients. She was the best nurse staff I've ever met, hands down. Thank you so much. I appreciate her more than she knows.
