Hello, I am nominating Brandy Wright, NM, for Swann 8; when I took on the role of Nurse Manager for Street 5, Brandy was the one chosen to be my mentor and interim manager until the transfer was completed. Before my first day in the office, she was on my unit, reviewing performance concerns and coaching/counseling team members to begin setting the expectations of the new management. Right after my start, I was faced with completing performance appraisals on over 70 team members I had barely met. She worked with my ANM and myself to complete all of our performance appraisals on time while still managing to complete hers for her unit. She verbally talked about the work and came alongside me to complete it. As a new nurse manager, I have many opportunities to learn. Even while she was on PTO, I called, emailed, and texted Brandy, and she still answered and provided feedback. She was always just as pleasant on those days as she was when she was at work. Her personality embodies BayCare values and has made transitioning into this role possible. I always have someone to whom I can ask questions and receive honest feedback. I am only one person, and sometimes that presents a one-sided or biased view of someone. So, I have asked members of Brandy's team to submit their own stories and comments on Brandy as their leader. Here is what they sent as a group:

Brandy has been asked several times to work as a two-floor manager. She went back and forth between floors, and I never heard her complain, call in sick, or put off responsibilities on anyone else. More recently, she was called upon to do it again. Again, Brandy never complained, always smiled, and up here in orthopedics, we never suffered once. If we have schedule requirements, they will be completed. Everything was done on time, all while she was running another floor, doing their evaluations, and training a new manager. Brandy does not hesitate to help. She always finds time to round on the floor, attend meetings, and do everything else. Brandy is genuinely a fantastic manager, one of a kind. We are lucky to have such a great manager who cares so much about us and the entire organization. She deserves to be recognized for her outstanding work. She's the GOAT!

Brandy has been my manager for 2 years now. She has been kind, encouraging, respectful, and a leader from the beginning. Brandy has been called to manage other floors in the hospital two separate times, all while managing our orthopedics floor. While doing so, she has kept a positive attitude and a smile. There was never a point in those 2 years where I felt let down. My questions and requests were always responded to in a quick and respectful manner. Brandy manages the work aspect, genuinely cares for her employees, and consistently exemplifies that she is a trustworthy individual to whom we can come. We love having Brandy as a manager and believe she deserves to be recognized for her hard work.

It was overwhelming when I started in this role as a navigator because I am new to the health system and learning everything from the ground. Brandy was always there to listen and support me. I am still here because she does not let me give up without trying. I appreciate her for that. I witness how much effort and dedication she puts into her role as a unit leader, and it reflects how her staff respects her and how we are performing as a team under her leadership. I cannot agree more; she truly cares, and it shows in everything she does; she is the best boss ever, and I have had a few. I love her open door, love that she praises publicly and gives constructive feedback in private.

I have watched Brandy grow from her first role as a bedside nurse in orthopedics. She then embraced going back to school for Her BSN. Afterward, she took on the new nurse navigator position. She grew her position in our unit and showed us how important it was to the team and the patients. As this position grew, so did Brandy's goals for herself. She then became our ANM, and I think you know the rest. Brandy has been instrumental in her role as Unit Manager; she has become the leader that everyone respects. Again, she continues to develop her personal goals as she forges ahead with her education towards her master's degree. YOU GO BRANDY. We all love you and strive to do our best because of you!!

Brandy is an outstanding leader. She is very patient and understanding and never quick to judge. During this time, she managed several units at one time and did it gracefully. The temperament that she has is unbelievable. She has exuded tremendous compassion for what she does throughout my 3 and 1/2 years in this unit. She always ensures her staff is taken care of and always offers a helping hand. There were times that I would get overwhelmed with the tasks of this job, and her smile would brighten my day. I love that she always has an open door and makes it so easy to talk to her. She always encourages her staff to reach their professional goals. I love her for being the best manager ever! - Sharky Brandy is very motivated, energetic, and hardworking. She comes early in the morning to meet her night crew. She gets along well with everyone. She has a strong understanding of the strengths of each team member. She helps her team stay engaged and focused. She gives fair evaluations and helpful feedback. She always shows appreciation to team members for a job well done. Always promote a learning culture among coworkers. She is very patient and cheerful. You will see her answering light or helping a patient go to the bathroom. I admire her professionalism when talking; you cannot see her being mad or disappointed. I am happy to be working with her. Because of her excellent examples, I have learned to be more patient, motivated, and always in good spirits.

Ms. Brandy deserves special recognition for a job well done. I can confirm that she is a woman of strong convictions who is incredibly dedicated and eager to assist her staff and other units at the hospital. With her consistent support and direction, I was able to learn and grow tremendously over the past few years. I have never felt neglected, even on her busiest days. Her open-door policy is priceless. Thank you! Ms. Brandy for molding me into the person I am today. May the Almighty keep you and your family safe. I admire you. Ms. Brandy is unquestionably a significant asset to BayCare. She deserves the title of Excellent Nurse Leader of All Time!!! All I want to do is grow up to be just like her.
