Nurse Boren to take care of me because she made the hospital feel like a home.
Boren was exceptional and caring for my mother, Maria Lewis. My mom had a few instances where she had pain,, whether it be her catheter or her IV and Boren immediately made any adjustments to ensure that my mom was comfortable. Every time Boren came to do her tasks and needed to return for another task, she was spot on with the time. If she said she’d be back in 10 minutes, she’d be back in 10 minutes, and if she said she’d be back at 9 o’clock to give my mother her medicine, she was back at as promised.
A moment that especially comes to mind in describing Boren’s standard of excellence is when she was changing my mother‘s wound. The wound was in a very sensitive location for a female, and she handled it with supreme professionalism, and showed my sister and me how to clean, change, and pack the wound. her grace and love for the job are evident. I wish more nurses were like Boren. It’s clear she was made for this, and she loves doing her job.
My mom was in the hospital for several days, and each time we dealt with Boren, she was always of the same demeanor, always had a smile on her face, and never once seemed irritated by any extra requests that were made of her by us. Boren made my mom feel safe and secure while staying in the hospital, which can be overwhelming for any patient. Boren went above and beyond, demonstrating empathy and compassion for my mom, whether my mom was in pain or needed adjustments in her health care.
Boren used her active listening skills to help comfort my mom when she was crying because she missed her family and her home. Boren was warm and welcoming to our family, creating an environment where our fears could be put at ease, knowing Boren would care for my mom just like she was a member of Boren's family. My family and I were grateful for Boren's diligent attention to detail and care for my mom, which helped with my mother's recovery process. Boren always arrived at my mother's room with a smile and a positive attitude. Please give Boren a raise! If I ever stay in the hospital, I would like Nurse Boren to take care of me because she made the hospital feel like a home.
