Once I returned to IVH, Bonnie showed her gentle nature by escorting me to my room and helping me into bed.
Bonnie is super dedicated to the job and the residents, as well as helping the staff. She shows this every day by being willing to jump in when needed. She is on M4S and has been here for an extended period, serving as our Nurse. In my case, she demonstrated great dedication and persistence in helping me obtain my knee surgery after several denials from UnityPoint and the Des Moines VA. She showed perseverance and resolve by repeated contact and phone calls to the Iowa City VA. Once I was approved for the first surgery, Bonnie showed great compassion by being instrumental in getting a number of days rather than the typical 1 day common for knee replacement. This worked well because I had a reaction to the anesthesia. Once I returned to IVH, Bonnie showed her gentle nature by escorting me to my room and helping me into bed. I was doped on strong medication, and Bonnie knew that because of her great nursing instincts. In the second surgery, after my return to IVH, Bonnie showed a kind and tender nature by hugging and enthusiastically welcoming me back from the CLC in Des Moines. She is very bubbly and has a warm personality, which really suits her as a nurse. I am proud to know Bonnie and have her on my team. Bonnie is a blessing and a true asset to IVH.

***

As a Nurse, Bonnie has a large workload that allows our unit to run smoothly. She is an exceptional nurse who, despite her workload, never passes up the chance to lend a hand. Most notably on weekends, when buildings have fewer staff members and Bonnie is on the cart, Bonnie answers most, if not all, of the call lights when she sees them. This is a huge help and allows RTWs to continue getting residents up for breakfast smoothly or complete tasks they need to finish. Bonnie can also be seen in many other ways, such as with meal trays, taking weights, etc., in addition to their licensed tasks. It is greatly appreciated when I know that she has a never-ending to-do list, and yet we receive this kind of support from her when she could easily be completing other tasks. This is such a small glimpse into the kind of care and support that Bonnie provides. Additionally, Bonnie is intentional about listening to and caring for residents, their families, and staff. Bonnie is truly a team player, provides skilled and compassionate care for every resident who enters her care, and is the type of person everyone wants to work with. M4S is extremely fortunate to have Bonnie as our nurse.
