I see this patient weekly for his chemotherapy sessions, and at each visit, he reiterates how incredible Aubrey has been and how he could not have done this without her.
Aubrey continuously goes above and beyond for patients and providers to ensure the best care for her patients. She is empathetic and patient, communicates with the multidisciplinary care team diligently, and is a huge asset to Hollings Cancer Center and radiation oncology.

A situation that highlights Aubrey's exceptional care for patients was recently, we had a patient who was apprehensive about starting radiation and chemotherapy because they were extremely nervous and overwhelmed. There were several factors that were particularly distressing to the patient. Aubrey connected with the patient from the start and, with her caring attitude, was able to make the patient feel comfortable with moving forward. He stated that she helped him get to that point because he never would have on his own. She provided him with a better understanding of what to expect and side effects and was incredibly patient while working with the patient and his many family members. There were many components that made this patient's treatment and situation especially difficult and overwhelming. He needed daily transportation for six weeks of treatment; Aubrey collaborated closely with our social work team to ensure this need was met, working daily to coordinate things. She remained professional and compassionate throughout it all.

I see this patient weekly for his chemotherapy sessions, and at each visit, he reiterates how incredible Aubrey has been and how he could not have done this without her. She reassured the patient throughout his weekly blood draws and fear of needles and ensured that his schedule was easy for him to manage so he did not become overwhelmed. Once the patient had started treatment, a bout of bed bugs prevented him from coming in. Aubrey was persistent in getting resources for the patient to have his home treated so that he could continue to come to his appointments.

She remained professional and compassionate throughout it all.

This is just one example highlighting the many ways Aubrey uses her skills and compassion to carry forward the MUSC mission and values while simultaneously being a pleasure to work with.
