Primary Progressive MS is a difficult diagnosis to deal with, and she has made this uncomfortable part of his treatment so much better for him.
A patient started infusions for Primary Progressive MS at the Cleveland Clinic. He dreads these infusions and typically passes out due to a vasovagal response to IVs. Angela took over for a nurse who was having difficulties with his IV during one of his first infusions, and, for the first time in a very long time, he did not pass out. We were shocked and commented that we needed her for all future infusions. She promised to be his nurse for his next infusion six months later.
She remembered him and kept her promise. Once again, during his next infusion, he didn’t pass out when she started the IV. On our 4-hour drive home, he said that Angela is one of the reasons he chooses to continue receiving infusions at the Cleveland Clinic, even when we have other options much closer to home.
Today was his fourth infusion, and while he did get a little lightheaded when the IV started, she continued to sit and talk with him, and he quickly recovered. She is an excellent nurse and a tremendous asset to the Cleveland Clinic. Primary Progressive MS is a difficult diagnosis to deal with, and she has made this uncomfortable part of his treatment so much better for him.
We appreciate her so much and feel that her compassionate care for patients goes above and beyond.
