Her willingness to help creates a supportive and positive environment for everyone. She truly makes a difference in our learning experience and shows the caring spirit of nursing every day.
1st Nomination
Anabellla has been a great mentor and PALs tutor for not only the people in her cohort, but also the new incoming students beginning core. She has tutored for Fundamentals for four terms and OB for one term, going on to her second. Anabellla is enthusiastic to help all those around her, whether in clinicals or in theory. She is constantly a text away in situations where the material for theory is confusing or in case there is a need for a brief discrepancy of material that needs clarification.
2nd Nomination
Anabellla is always the first to offer help when someone is struggling with a subject. Many times, I have gone to her with questions, and she takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense. She never makes anyone feel embarrassed for not understanding and is always patient. 3rd Nomination
I was placed at Palmdale Regional for my Intermediate MedSurg clinical rotation with Anabellla. We were often partnered together in the same groups in the ER and MedSurg units. She often went out of her way to make sure I was included and to let me witness specific nursing skills or patient clinical presentations. I always felt comfortable asking for her advice or help prior to completing a nursing task.
She always made me feel supported and helped me when I wasn’t quite confident performing a skill for the first time. For example, she helped me to review IV insertion techniques because I was very nervous to practice placing an IV on a patient upon ED admission. Knowing we needed to get this skills check off before the end of the rotation, she always made sure to have me watch when she was inserting an IV and would offer to help when it was my turn. After she had done a few successful IV placements, she made sure to offer me opportunities to try my IV skills. With her help, I felt confident and was able to successfully place a couple of IVs on my own in the ER setting.
Outside of the clinical setting, Anabellla has shared how much she enjoys helping other students as a PALS tutor. She is very confident, has a comforting tone with patients, and goes out of her way to help others succeed.
