I could see confidence and joy in her presence.
Friday I needed medical attention and requested to go to RMC ER. I was truly scared about my symptoms as I am a reasonably healthy individual. I was consumed with worry which was physically apparent. I had several angels taking care of me. My Holy Family team coordinated the transport to RMC. Talking to me on the phone while I was in my car unable to drive or stand.

Once at RMC the security guard settled me into a wheelchair. I was taken to triage and the gentleman was compassionate and caring. Once in the ER bay: EKG labs IV fluids and Xray. My nurse Abbey was incredible! The best part is she didn't know I was the CNO at another facility. After some time she shared that she was in our Nurse Grad Program. Only 15 months as a nurse. I could see confidence and joy in her presence. The best part, the doctor stepped in and was doing real-time teaching with Abbey. It was great to see that collegial relationship.

I finally told Abbey about my role and she stated now "I am nervous". We both chuckled. As a nurse, it can be difficult to be a patient but Abbey and the care team did all the right things. I was comfortable being on the other side of the curtain.
