She has shown us nothing but grace, humility, and compassion.
Ms. Baker pours her entire heart and soul into her career, and it truly shows in how she shows up for her students each and every day. She goes above and beyond in ways that have not gone unnoticed. Recording lectures at home in the middle of the night for us to have as extra study tools; creating study templates for us to use; and creating practice tests/questions for us. It is evident that she truly loves what she does, and she wants everyone to succeed in their nursing career and beyond.
She is also exceptional at teaching in a way that is easy to understand. She is not just reading from a PowerPoint; she is sharing stories, she's having us engage with feedback to ensure we are understanding the topics, and she does so in a way that is not intimidating. Nurses are known for “eating their young”, and nursing instructors are known to be intimidating and harsh, but Mrs. Baker defies both of these metaphors. She has shown us nothing but grace, humility, and compassion. I admire Mrs. Baker and have so much respect for her, and I hope to become half the nurse/person she is! Mrs. Baker is by far one of the most exceptional educators I've had the privilege of learning from.
Her knowledge and love for her career are shown every day. Her passion for teaching is evident in every lesson, especially in the way she can masterfully break down complex clinical concepts into parts that actually make sense to us. I am deeply grateful for the extra time she takes to ensure no one is left behind. She cares about us truly mastering the material rather than just checking a box to pass an exam. She hasn't just taught me the curriculum, but given me the confidence I needed to succeed.
Jami Baker not only has an incredible knowledge base in nursing, but she also truly connects with her students in a way that creates a supportive and positive learning environment. Nursing school can feel overwhelming at times, but she has a way of making things feel manageable and less intimidating. I had the opportunity to have her as my instructor for nursing school and clinical, and I remember feeling unsure of myself and my abilities. Even without me saying much, she recognized when I needed reassurance and reminded me that I was on the right track. Her encouragement and genuine care helped build my confidence and pushed me to keep going. She consistently went above and beyond to support my classmates and me, always making sure we felt comfortable asking questions and learning from our mistakes. The skills and knowledge she taught have stayed with me, not just in clinicals but as I begin my journey as a registered nurse. She played a huge role in my success throughout the program, and I’m truly grateful for the impact she's had on me.
