We would like to nominate Nurse Shakira for a DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional care she provided to our daughter during her PICU stay. Our daughter has Autism with limited communication abilities, Epilepsy, ADHD, and SVT heart disorder. From the moment we met Shakira, she demonstrated extraordinary compassion, patience, and professionalism. During an incredibly stressful and emotional time for our family, she consistently went above and beyond to ensure our daughter received not only outstanding medical care but also comfort, reassurance, and kindness. Shakira treated our daughter with genuine warmth and respect, taking the time to explain procedures, answer our questions, and ease our fears. Her patience never wavered, even during difficult moments, and she always made us feel heard and supported. Her calm presence helped bring a sense of peace and confidence to an otherwise overwhelming experience. What stood out most was the way Shakira cared for our daughter as if she were her own. She celebrated small victories with us, provided encouragement during setbacks, and consistently showed empathy for both our daughter and our family. Her dedication made a lasting impact on our PICU experience and helped us get through one of the most challenging times in our lives.
