We had a critical patient who became a code and ultimately was admitted to DCH ICU. I later heard that the patient has a disabled and blind adult son who lives at home with him. After the patient was admitted, I found out that Jessie and her fiancé, Caleb, made plans to check on the son by going to their residence, explaining how the father was doing, how the father was admitted, and just making sure he was ok.

I also heard the son say his father is his "eyes," and it meant so much to him that they were checking in on him. I just think this is so kind that Jessie and Caleb care so much for our patients and families. This shows dedication and professionalism by including the patient's family concerns and going above and beyond. Jessica and Caleb definitely understand our patients' overall needs.
