She has completely transformed how education is done on our unit.
I would like to recognize Stacy Callahan. We cannot say enough great things about Stacy. She is the true definition of a team player. She is not just our educator; she is a part of our OR Leadership Team, keeps us on track, participates in everything we do, and often goes above her job duties.
She has completely transformed how education is done on our unit. We have monthly education boards that are constantly being updated with new surgeries that we are learning, any new equipment, and any policy changes. She makes sure we are all informed about every little detail.
In addition to our new boards, there is an education binder in each OR with important daily information as a quick guide for staff. She has made QR codes for equipment in case anyone needs a refresher before using. She is a welcoming face for our new staff and someone to lean on when they are having a tough day. She is their biggest advocate.
Stacy has also helped us put on some great education events this year. We held National Time Out Day in the lobby of the hospital, where we had hundreds of staff members participate. We also started a new specialty and held a Thoracic Education Day with hands-on training!
I would truly be lost without Stacy. Sometimes I tell her about an idea I have, and before my thought is finished, I have a 15-page slide deck! Stacy deserves this award and so much more. I hope she knows how much we appreciate her!
