Denise deserves the DAISY Award. My daughter, K, has been a patient in your hospital numerous times for wound infections of her feet - at one point last year requiring all the toes of her right foot to be amputated and, most recently, her left leg below the knee. Each time, Denise was her hospitalist, and some stays were a month or longer. Denise went above and beyond with giving her the care she needed. Especially emotionally, she tried in every way possible to make K’s stays comfortable and listened to her wishes and needs. Even coming in on her time off, heading into a weekend, to discuss some bad news with Katie after learning the test results and the U of I's decisions not to take her as a patient. She didn’t want to leave K stewing over it for the weekend. K said the two of them had many conversations together regarding her health and mental status. K said she treated her as if she were her own daughter. K trusts Denise and Regional Medical Center to take care of her health needs.
