I would love to nominate Brittany M. for the DAISY Award for the incredible compassion she showed my son during his surgery. Like many kids, he was nervous about going back to the operating room. Brittany immediately connected with him, turning a scary moment into something exciting. She told him they were going to "race" Mom and Dad to the finish line on the way to the OR so he wouldn't be so nervous. That small moment completely changed his experience and helped him feel brave. What truly showed Brittany's heart was what she did afterward. When his surgery was finished, she had made a little sign saying he had won 1st place in the race and attached it to his stuffed animal. That thoughtful gesture meant so much to our family and made the whole entire experience unforgettable. I also have the privilege of working with Brittany, and I see firsthand the way she cares for her pediatric patients. She always goes above and beyond to make every child feel safe and special. Her compassion and dedication truly make a difference in the lives of the kids and families she cares for. Brittany is the kind of nurse every child deserves, and she truly embodies what the DAISY Award stands for.
