I would like to nominate Nurse Isaias from Covenant Children's Emergency Room for the DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional care he provided to my son during two separate ER visits, one of which resulted in a hospital admission. During our first visit, my son was only 2 years old, and we were very scared and unsure of what to expect. From the very beginning, Nurse Isaias showed remarkable patience, compassion, and professionalism. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything that was happening, making sure I understood each step of my son's care. His knowledge and confidence were evident, and he made what could have been a very overwhelming experience feel manageable and less frightening. He was also very consistent in checking on us, making sure my son was comfortable and that we understood what was happening at every stage. When we found out during that first visit that my son was going to be admitted, we were devastated. From starting the IV to administering medications, Nurse Isaias was truly a Godsend.

One moment that will always stay with us was when he prepared to start my son's IV. He took the time to explain to my son that he was a strong boy, encouraging him and helping him feel brave. Because of his calm and reassuring approach, my son did not cry at all during the IV placement. Hearing Nurse Isaias tell him he was strong gave my son confidence during a very scary moment, and it meant so much to us as parents. During our second ER visit, my son was 3 years old, and it became even more clear just how special Nurse Isaias is. My son remembered him from our first visit and happily kept calling him “friend.” That simple moment spoke volumes about the comfort and trust Nurse Isaias created. It is not easy for young children to feel safe in an emergency room, but Nurse Isaias has a natural ability to connect with his patients and make them feel secure. Nurse Isaias truly has the heart of a nurse. His dedication, knowledge, patience, and compassion made a lasting impression on our family. His kindness turned fear into comfort and helped our son feel brave during a difficult time. We are deeply grateful for the care he provided, and we believe he truly deserves the DAISY Award.
