Emily demonstrated what it means to be a compassionate, kind, and caring nurse. She cared for a patient in the ED who turned for the worse, which required ICU care. Emily stood by this patient's side for hours to ensure she remained stable. She placed 2 additional IVs, a Foley, and a feeding tube prior to transfer to the ICU. Emily delivered and reported the patient to me in a calm, collected manner while her coworkers in the ED were asking her questions about her other patients. She made sure I was all set when she brought the patient up to the ICU and even helped pull her up and put mittens on her. Emily demonstrated with this patient the SRHS mission of Advance Health Together- that regardless of the department, we were together to advance the health and outcome of our patient.

Emily demonstrated what it means to selflessly give compassionate, caring care when your patient goes from a standby assist to seizures to intubation. It takes more than skill to provide high-quality care with a heart. She demonstrated what it means to couple high-quality skill with compassionate patient care during an acute patient crisis. Emily deserves recognition for her outstanding job today.
