She is a remarkable asset to the hospital and the team, and a shining example of what a little understanding and initiative can mean for patients.
We started at East Bank U of M Fairview and came to Bethesda LTAC 6 days ago. No single nurse has taken the initiative to go above and beyond like Amber has this whole time. She took the initiative to go above and beyond, aligning the care plan with patient priorities and requirements to minimize frustrations and interruptions in what has been an extremely taxing and lengthy experience. No other nurses at East Bank 5th Floor, the ICU, or 6th Floor, or even other nurses at Bethesda, have even come close to attempting to do what Amber did. Her Empathy, Understanding, and Willingness to Do What’s Best For the Patient (not operating with blinders on, being so task-focused, or digging her heels in when questioned or met with disagreement on the timing or priority of noncritical tasks) set her in a league of her own among caregivers. She is a remarkable asset to the hospital and the team, and a shining example of what a little understanding and initiative can mean for patients. The hospital is lucky to have her and should invest more in training to make her a multiplier for the organization's overall health.
