She ensures that every nurse knows how to contact Gift of Hope, access information, and support families when donation becomes part of their care journey.
I am honored to nominate Nurse Laura Keenon for her exceptional dedication and unwavering advocacy for Gift of Hope here at Sherman Hospital. Her passion for organ and tissue donation has touched the lives of countless patients, families, and staff alike, and she has become a true beacon of light during some of the darkest and most challenging moments families face. She has a remarkable ability to create connection and compassion. She consistently goes above and beyond her nursing responsibilities, rounding throughout the hospital to educate staff about the importance of organ donation and its lifesaving impact on our community. She ensures that every nurse knows how to contact Gift of Hope, access information, and support families when donation becomes part of their care journey.

Her presence is a constant reminder of the hope that can arise even during times of loss. One of her most meaningful annual contributions is decorating Sherman’s Gift of Hope Tree, a cherished tradition our hospital looks forward to each holiday season. Adorned with photos of organ donors from years past individuals who chose to give the gift of life- the tree stands as a symbol of generosity, remembrance, and new beginnings. Her passion is unmistakable. When she speaks about Gift of Hope, it is clear this is not simply an interest; it is a calling. She brings sincerity, comfort, and inspiration to every conversation. Her advocacy has strengthened our hospital’s culture of compassion, elevated awareness around organ donation, and helped ensure that donor families and recipients are supported with dignity and care.
