When Kelley saw me crying, she asked compassionately if there was anything I wanted to talk through, and I felt very heard in that moment.
Kelley Muscarella showed incredible compassion and care for me during delivery. From the moment her shift started to the very end. She hustled and had so much energy, truly fully present every moment with me. I was incredibly scared during labor, fearing so many different outcomes for myself and my baby. She kept me calm and positive and knew what to say. And I believe that is why I was able to still deliver vaginally and not rush to an emergency C-section.
When Kelley saw me crying, she asked compassionately if there was anything I wanted to talk through, and I felt very heard in that moment. She showed so much physical strength in all the spinning babies movements she assisted me with, too. I started showing signs of finally progressing into pushing, and she stayed and helped deliver my baby safely even after her shift ended. She was genuine and truly cared and clearly loved her job. There were so many little things she did that made me so grateful she was my nurse.
At the beginning of her shift, she had asked my daughter’s name, and the next day, when I came to say goodbye to her, she still remembered the name that I mentioned only once. Kelley also remembered the different names we were deciding between for our new baby. She really cared about the little details about our family, and it showed in her work and her hustle. I am forever grateful she was my nurse. I felt like her only patient the entire time. She was also extremely respectful and helpful to her colleagues. I can’t say enough good things about her and what she provided for the birth of our child. Birth was very traumatic for me, but she gave me so many moments of calm and encouraged me to keep going when I didn’t want to or felt hopeless. We asked a million questions, and she patiently answered every one of them or called the right person to answer if she felt it was out of her realm. This hospital is so lucky to have Kelley .
