I would like to recognize Rachel Briscoe for providing extraordinary care to my newborn son and me. After giving birth, I developed severe pre-eclampsia and remained in the hospital.  What should have been the most joyful time of our lives quickly became one of the scariest. I was afraid - afraid for my health and afraid of what could happen.

During that time, Rachel became our steady presence in the middle of so much uncertainty. She cared for me not only with clinical excellence but with genuine compassion.  She took the time to explain what was happening with my body, what the medications were doing, and what to expect. When I felt overwhelmed and scared, she never minimized my feelings. She listened; she reassured me. She spoke calmly and confidently, which gave me peace when my mind was racing. 

Rachel was just as tender with my baby. Watching her care for him so gently brought comfort during moments when I felt physically weak and emotionally drained. She understood that these were moments we could never get back, and she treated them with importance and respect. 

She also cared for my husband, making sure he understood everything and checking in on him as he tried to stay strong for us. She treated us like a family, not just another room number. Rachel's skill, patience, and kindness made a lasting impact on our lives. In one of the most vulnerable seasons I have ever experienced, she helped me feel safe. Because of her, I will always remember that even in fear, there was compassion in that hospital room. Our family will never forget the difference she made.
