I came in as a patient and a stranger, and I am leaving with a new friend.
I have been a patient here for almost a week now, and although I have had great care from my nurses, techs, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and doctors, I would like to nominate nurse Bobbie Mathena for the DAISY award.
The night Ms. Bobbie cared for me, she wasn't just a nurse but soon became my friend. Ms. Bobbie knew I was in pain, scared, nervous, and didn't know how things were going to turn out. She stayed and listened to my concerns and assured me that everything was going to be alright. She made sure that my meds were given on time and answered all my questions. Ms. Bobbie tried to keep my mind off of my concerns. She treated me like I was one of her family members, and she really showed great care and compassion.
One morning while I was getting ready for surgery, Ms Bobbie assured me that everything was going to be okay and followed me all the way to the OR double doors that led into the waiting room before surgery. Nurse Bobbie is a prime and professional example that great nursing isn't dead but still alive and doing well. Several times when she had time and she wasn't my nurse, she would come to my room and check on me and remind me that I was going to be okay.
Nurse Bobbie made my stay here a whole lot easier, all while easing my fears and concerns. Nurse Bobbie always came into my room smiling and full of joy, trying to brighten my day. Monroe Hospital is blessed to have such an outstanding nurse as Ms. Bobbie.
I will forever be grateful for getting to have Nurse Bobbie as my nurse while I was a patient here at your fine hospital. I have received the best care here than any other hospital that I have ever had. I can't say enough about how grateful I am that Nurse Bobbie was on your staff, and if there were more Bobbies in this world, it would be a greater place to be. I came in as a patient and a stranger, and I am leaving with a new friend.
