We would like to recognize Suzanne, on behalf of a patient and his wife, who are forever grateful for the care she has provided in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit.

During one of the most frightening and uncertain times in our lives, Suzanne has been a constant source of strength, comfort, and trust. As a patient in the Neuro ICU, my husband has faced a serious and overwhelming condition, but the care Suzanne has provided has made an immeasurable difference in both his experience and ours.

From the very beginning, Suzanne demonstrated not only exceptional clinical skill, but also genuine compassion. She consistently monitors even the smallest changes, acts quickly when something doesn’t seem right, and advocates fiercely to ensure the best possible care. She is highly skilled and deeply dedicated to her patients.

One moment that truly reflects Suzanne’s dedication was when he was in significant pain but was not yet due for his next dose of pain medication. Rather than accepting this, Suzanne recognized his discomfort and took immediate action. She went directly to the doctor overseeing his care, advocated on his behalf, and worked to find a solution. Because of her persistence and compassion, she was able to get his pain better managed and bring him much-needed relief. In that moment, she not only eased his physical pain but also reassured us that he was truly being cared for and heard.

What has meant the most to us, however, is the way Suzanne cares for both of us not just as patient and spouse, but as people. She takes the time to explain what is happening in a way we can understand, never making us feel rushed or dismissed. In moments of fear and uncertainty, she has brought calm, reassurance, and kindness. She treats my husband with dignity, respect, and compassion in every interaction.

We have also learned that Suzanne drives an hour to the hospital and an hour back home each day, something she chooses to do. That level of commitment speaks volumes about her character and her dedication to Covenant Health and its patients. It reflects the same unwavering dedication she shows at the bedside every single day.

In an environment that can feel overwhelming, Suzanne has been a light for both of us. Her presence has given us confidence, her words have given us comfort, and her care has given us hope. We will never forget the impact she has had on our lives during this difficult time.
