She helped him find his fight again. This nurse is more than “just a nurse”; she is the kind of person who saves lives not just with medicine, but with her heart.
Stephanie was nominated twice for our 2026 DAISY Award.

Her coworker wrote:

"She is a team player, very professional, hardworking, always asking if someone needs help, and her demeanor is just perfect. She goes above and beyond when interacting with her patients and even when talking to her coworkers. I nominate her for the DAISY Award because she deserves it.”

A patient's spouse wrote to describe her husband's hospital stay and the care he received while at the hospital, writing:

"My husband was admitted for a shoulder replacement, but when they opened him up, they found a severe infection. Because of his history with MRSA, they stopped the procedure and placed an antibiotic spacer instead. This was not his first time dealing with an infection like this. It was his fourth. And this time, it broke him. He shut down completely. He was tired. Tired of setbacks, tired of surgeries, and tired of fighting. He said he did not want to go through another round of antibiotics. He told me he was refusing the PICC line. I tried to talk him through it, but nothing I said made a difference.

Then Stephanie, his nurse, walked in. She did not just check his vitals and move on. She pulled up a chair and sat with him like she had all the time in the world. She listened as he vented. She validated how hard this has been. And slowly, she talked him back. She explained the importance of the treatment and reminded him why it was worth it to keep going.

That conversation changed everything.

He agreed to the PICC line. He came back emotionally. She helped him find his fight again. This nurse is more than “just a nurse”; she is the kind of person who saves lives not just with medicine, but with her heart.

I truly believe she helped save my husband that day. She is everything the DAISY Award stands for.”
