She and a family advocate even got things together so we could wash my dad’s hair one last time.
During my time in the ED, Kayla did everything she could to keep me comfortable and explained all the procedures going on. She was sweet and “in control,” which reassured me that everything else was in order. I was in for colitis and was having some embarrassing moments, but she stayed cool about it and didn’t let me feel embarrassed.

My dad was brought in by ambulance; he was in active stages of dying. His wife was in denial and called 911 to have him taken to Cox Branson Emergency. We all knew the inevitable, but sometimes people need to hear it from the doctor themselves. Nurse Kayla took extremely great care of my dad. She treated him with dignity, kindness, and compassion. She spoke to him softly, told him what she was doing and what medication she was giving him. She treated him like he was still a person. She and a family advocate even got things together so we could wash my dad’s hair one last time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
