I would like to nominate Agueda Portillo, DS, for 4S for the DAISY Leadership Award. Aggie brings a high level of energy needed to match a busy telemetry unit. She is constantly on the move, breaking staff, coordinating bed movement, or problem-solving. Patient and staff safety is foremost in decision-making. She demonstrates good, clear communication skills as she fosters teamwork among staff members. Her medical knowledge and fluency in Spanish facilitate efficiency during the daily trio rounds with our Spanish patients.

Her hands-on approach helps build confidence among staff because she will not ask nurses to perform tasks she herself is unwilling to do. Her complete grasp of her unit's bed situation always facilitates efforts to prevent diversion in the ED when it arises, and she admits ED patients as quickly as patient safety allows.
