Her care went far beyond the medical side; it touched the emotional, human side, something we needed more than we realized.
During our hospital stay, Shama made such a profound difference that I know I will remember her kindness for years to come. From the moment she walked into our room, she carried an inviting, compassionate presence that immediately made us feel seen, supported, and safe. She wasn't just caring; she was understanding, flexible, relatable, and incredibly thoughtful in every interaction. There was a moment, shortly after surgery, when our son was overwhelmed and under a lot of stress. His eyes landed on her small tiger light, and without even a hint of hesitation, she gave it to him. When it was time for her shift to end, she did not once request the light back, and she actually said he could keep it if it helped him get better. That simple, selfless gesture shifted the energy in the room; it soothed him in a way nothing else had, and it gave us a moment of relief in the middle of everything.

The next day, when she returned as his nurse, she didn't just pick up where she left off; she went even further. She came back carrying other animal lights she thought he might enjoy, hoping they would help distract and comfort him as he prepared for another blood draw. It wasn't part of her job. It wasn't something we asked for. It was something she did because her heart told her to. All throughout, she checked in constantly on him and on us. She asked what we needed, anticipated what we didn't say out loud, and made sure our son had everything possible to feel comfortable after brain surgery. Her care went far beyond the medical side; it touched the emotional, human side, something we needed more than we realized. Shama didn't just take care of our child; she cared for our family. And her kindness turned a frightening, exhausting experience into one filled with moments of comfort and connection that we will never forget.
