During one of the most stressful times when my husband was critically ill, Paige provided care that went far beyond her clinical responsibilities. From the moment Paige became involved in my husband’s care, it was clear that she was an exceptional nurse. She was attentive, calm, and incredibly thorough, always making sure my husband was comfortable and safe. Her clinical skill was evident, but what truly set her apart was the compassion and humanity she showed to both of us. Paige took the time to explain what was happening, answered questions patiently, and treated my husband with dignity and respect at every step. She never made us feel rushed or overlooked. In addition to caring for my husband, Paige also cared for me. She recognized how exhausted and overwhelmed I was and gently but firmly advocated for me to rest, providing me with a small reclining bed, reassuring me that my husband was in excellent hands. That simple act of advocacy meant more to me than I can fully express. Paige was accommodating, kind, and deeply empathetic. She even recognized his dietary needs and brought him gluten-free meals. Her presence brought comfort during an incredibly difficult experience, and her dedication made a lasting impression on our family. She exemplifies everything the DAISY Award represents—clinical excellence, compassion, advocacy, and extraordinary patient- and family-centered care. Because of Paige Huff, this situation felt more manageable, and we felt genuinely cared for as people, not just patients. I will always be grateful for the care she provided, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of recognition.
