She is such a light, and I genuinely cannot imagine this journey without her.
I was diagnosed with lymphoma. I've never been through this journey myself or with anyone in close proximity to me, so it was very new, nerve-racking, and unknown. I was admitted to the hospital for two weeks to start my treatment and undergo all of my tests.
Megan was one of the last nurses I had when I was inpatient, and I could tell from the first time I met her that I was really going to like her. Being 17 at the time, I found a lot of the staff talked to me like I was a younger child out of habit, but one of the first things I noticed about her was that she talked to me like I was an adult. We quickly bonded over little things, and me wanting to be a nurse, but I found her company in particular to be very refreshing.
She made a lot of the scary things less scary and more "fun", and she was very lighthearted and not serious 100% of the time. She has an amazing balance between being goofy and having fun, and getting everything she needs to get done. When I found out she would be moving to outpatient, I was overjoyed that I was going to be able to continue to see her.
Every time I came for an infusion, I always hoped she would be there, and I would get to see her. When we were both there on the same days, I was so excited to see and get to talk to her, even if it was only for a few minutes. She always makes sure to check up on her patients and make sure they're comfortable and have everything they need, while also lightening the mood in such a difficult time!
She is such a light, and I genuinely cannot imagine this journey without her. No amount of thanks or words can capture the depth of gratitude I will forever hold for her in my heart.
