A colleague nominated Belinda, stating:
“Belinda Bordeaux is the embodiment of what the DAISY Award represents—compassionate care, unwavering dedication, and a deep commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
With over 35 years of nursing experience, Belinda began her career as a Neonatal ICU nurse and has since become the driving force behind CHKD’s Vascular Access Team. She has served as the VAT Specialty Team Leader for as long as many of us can remember. Her leadership, expertise, and passion have made a lasting impact on patients, staff, and the organization as a whole.
In her role as Team Leader, Belinda consistently goes above and beyond to support not only our patients but also her fellow nurses and healthcare team members across the health system. She is a trusted resource for educators and frontline staff alike, generously sharing her expertise through practical tips, hands-on training, and thoughtful feedback that empower others to provide safe, effective care.
Belinda’s commitment to compassionate care extends beyond the bedside. She is frequently seen rounding, checking in on team members, offering encouragement, and supporting staff with both professional guidance and genuine kindness. Her dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive environment is felt throughout the hospital.
Most recently, Belinda led a major system-wide initiative involving the transition to a new IV catheter product. She coordinated and organized class setup and scheduling, submitted CNE paperwork, developed educational content, facilitated teaching, and worked closely with vendors to ensure staff received thorough, hands-on training.
She maintained open, honest, and timely communication throughout the process, keeping all departments informed and engaged, and quickly addressing any challenges that arose.
Belinda is an extraordinary nurse who exemplifies patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and team collaboration. Her leadership, integrity, and commitment to best practices make her a role model and a true asset to CHKD.
She is more than deserving of the DAISY Leader Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to nursing, healthcare, and patient safety.”
