Tiago works hard in every role, always with humility, always willing to learn, and always ready to help; an attitude that is not seen every day.
We are delighted to announce that our DAISY Award Honoree for Extraordinary Nursing goes to Tiago Pascoal, Nurse Associate from our Day Surgery Ward.
Tiago has worked in a variety of roles at The Lister, where he began as a Porter, before moving on to Front of House, followed by a role as a Healthcare Assistant and then training as a Nurse Associate with HCA. Vincenzo Prinzi (Tiago's Manager) notes that what makes Tiago special is not just the long list of roles he has undertaken, but how he has approached each one. In every position, he has brought dedication, kindness and that positive energy that cannot be taught. He has a natural way with people - both patients and colleagues - that helps everyone feel a little calmer, more supported and even happier.
Vincenzo adds that Tiago works hard in every role, always with humility, always willing to learn, and always ready to help; an attitude that is not seen every day. Tiago has grown both professionally and personally and truly deserves this award, which recognises exactly what he brings every day: care, compassion and commitment.
This award is truly deserved, and Tiago has received some wonderful nominations:
"Tiago has amazing attention to detail, is very personable and passionate in all aspects of care. I was blown away with his energy and knowledge. Best nurse I've ever had!"
"Super professional and diligent. Nothing was too much trouble, and I was made to feel confident, comfortable, and fully informed throughout my day visit. Tiago was an excellent communicator with a personal, human approach with great empathy - he is the best nurse I have ever come across. He is an asset to The Lister and the nursing profession - a stand-out exemplar."
"I had a septorhinoplasty at The Lister Hospital and stayed overnight. Tiago was my nurse for the majority of the time. From morning till evening of surgery day and morning of the day after. He was absolutely fantastic. Very bubbly and helpful. He made me feel so welcome and safe by checking in on me with a big smile, answering all my questions in a way that was easy for me to understand, and had a great sense of humour. The amazing thing is he was consistently lovely even at the end of what I imagine to be a long, stressful day. Her brought me everything I requested and went over and above what I was expecting. Even when I was leaving, he gave me a number that would put through to him when he’s around in case I needed anything or wanted him to explain anything again. Outstanding nurse from start to finish of my procedure. Thanks so much, Tiago. I will always remember the kindness."
"I had Tiago looking after me for my Intralipid infusion. I told him about my fears with cannulas as it was playing on my mind and appreciated how he listened to me. He instantly made me feel at ease with how friendly and confident he came across. I have previously put nurses off from wanting to put my cannula in. Tiago was very good at going at my pace with putting my cannula in and helped to take my mind off of it by chatting away to me. He did it so quickly and confidently that I then told him I needed to take him home with me so that he could always do my cannulas! Tiago was very attentive throughout the day when he would check on me and make sure I wasn’t in pain. There were a few times when I had to press the buzzer due to having some pain. Tiago was very efficient with lowering the amount of infusion that was going into me and then slowly trying to build it back up again. He was really good at listening to me and tailoring the infusion so that I wouldn’t be uncomfortable and start to panic. Tiago is an amazing nurse and passionate about his job. You can tell he loves being a nurse and has a very good bedside manner. I really hope that I have him again for my next infusion!"
"As I was recovering post anaesthetic (for my first time ever) Tiago explained to me in scientific and easy to understand ways why my body was reacting the way it was. This really helped me calm down, and I knew I was in safe hands for my whole stay. His confidence, calmness, and kindness made my post-surgery recovery as relaxing as possible, and I really appreciate all the efforts he went to."
