She gave my Aunt the comfort of not being alone and provided support to her by just being present in her time of need.
My Aunt was admitted with COVID pneumonia. After over a week, she was transferred to 3Tele. Initially, she showed great improvement, but one night, her oxygen needs became increasingly higher, and my Aunt decided she didn't want to be intubated.

My Aunt made this decision alone with Sara and the doctor at her bedside. My Aunt was of sound mind and didn't want her family burdened with having to make decisions about life and death for her. I spoke with my Aunt the next day about her choice, and she had such peace about it all. She stated that on all the nights Sara took care of her, Sara became like a family member, as she couldn't have visitors due to COVID.

My Aunt stated that Sara stayed by her bedside, bathed her, washed her hair, and made her so calm and at peace. Sara did for my Aunt what our family was unable to do at that moment. She gave my Aunt time that, as a medical professional, I know she probably didn't have. She gave my Aunt the comfort of not being alone and provided support to her by just being present in her time of need.

There will never be enough words to thank Sara for what she did for my Aunt. I am eternally grateful. Clearly, Sara understands that nursing sometimes is an act of the heart.
