Amy consistently demonstrates that leadership in healthcare is not only about managing systems and resources but also about caring for people in their most vulnerable moments.
I would like to recognize Amy Bartlett because she plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the hospital. As the night-time Nursing Supervisor, she is often the sole forward-facing member of the leadership team during overnight hours. In an environment where resources and staffing are frequently limited, Amy consistently provides steady guidance, support, and decision-making that keep patient care and hospital operations running efficiently.

Her leadership style is defined by accessibility, trust, and a genuine commitment to the people she serves. Staff frequently turn to her as a trusted confidant because she makes the time to listen, provide guidance, and help them navigate challenging situations. On particularly demanding nights, her calm presence reassures the staff that together they can meet whatever challenges lie ahead in order to continue providing our patients with the absolute best care. She leads with a hands-on approach, and it is common to see Amy working alongside staff, helping them manage and overcome the issues that arise throughout the shift.

One of Amy’s most impactful strengths is her ability to balance operational leadership with compassionate patient engagement. On one especially busy night, despite the many responsibilities competing for her attention, she took the time to sit with a patient and their family who were facing a difficult clinical prognosis. She provided reassurance, answered questions, and created space for them to process the situation with dignity and support. In a moment that could have easily been overshadowed by the pressures of the shift, Amy made that family her priority. Her presence brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time and significantly improved their overall experience during their stay at Crouse.

Amy consistently demonstrates that leadership in healthcare is not only about managing systems and resources but also about caring for people in their most vulnerable moments. Amy truly embodies the mission and values of the organization. Her ability to lead with both competence and compassion makes her an outstanding role model for others across the hospital.
