. Christine’s efforts were crucial in instilling public trust and confidence in our healthcare services during a period of widespread uncertainty.
I am honored to recognize Christine Fonseca for her extraordinary leadership and commitment to excellence in nursing during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a Quality Nurse in our Ambulatory Care Department, Christine has been instrumental in leading our COVID-19 vaccination initiative and has played a pivotal role in reviewing and developing new policies to enhance our ambulatory care services. Moreover, she has effectively contributed to the reduction of medication errors in the ambulatory care setting at UC Davis Health by providing both impromptu and scheduled education to all categories of staff in our Ambulatory Care Division.
As we all know, this was not an easy task, considering the perpetual changes that came with the wide variety of vaccines, as well as evolving CDC and FDA guidelines.
Throughout the pandemic, Christine organized and led our COVID-19 vaccination education, which was critical in ensuring the health and safety of our community. Her meticulous attention to detail, comprehensive planning, and compassionate approach ensured that all our ambulatory care nurses understood the guidelines and that vaccinations were administered safely. Christine’s efforts were crucial in instilling public trust and confidence in our healthcare services during a period of widespread uncertainty.
In addition to her remarkable leadership in vaccine education, Christine has also been dedicated to enhancing our department’s operational policies and EMR workflows alongside our Ambulatory Care Executive Leadership. Recognizing the evolving challenges of the pandemic, she spearheaded a review of our existing practices and led the development of innovative policies that have significantly improved our responsiveness and the quality of patient care.
Her work not only impacted our COVID-19 response but also set a new standard for patient care across all areas of ambulatory services.
Christine’s dedication to her profession and her innovative approach to nursing quality and patient safety exemplify the spirit of the DAISY Award. She has not only contributed to our immediate goals but has also laid the foundation for long-term improvements in our healthcare delivery.
For example, we now use Christine’s format for communicating formulary changes and educating our clinical staff throughout Ambulatory Care.
This is a testament to Christine’s outstanding contributions to our department and the broader community. Her leadership and dedication during these unprecedented times make her a deserving recipient of this prestigious recognition.
