Sharon is the kind of nurse and leader that both staff and providers genuinely trust and rely on. Although she is the newest on our team, you would never know it by the way she carries herself- with confidence, humility, and unwavering commitment to doing what is right for every patient, every time.
Form a provider perspective, Sharon stands out for her curiosity and dedication to truly understanding "Why" behind care. She consistently engages physicians in thoughtful discussion, asking questions that reflect not only her clinical awareness, but her deep desire to deliver the safest and most informed care possible. That level of engagement does not go unnoticed- providers value her insight, respect her judgement, and trust her presence at the bedside.
From a staff perspective, Sharon is the definition of selfless leadership. No matter the time, situation, or the assignment, she shows up ready to help. She willingly takes on extra work , supports overwhelmed teammates, and never hesitates to step in where she is needed. More importantly, she lifts others up. She manages others up effortlessly. recognizes the strengths in those around her and creates an environment where nurses supported, capable, and valued.
What makes Sharon especially Unique is how she teaches. She shares her knowledge freely and intentionally. Always with humility and kindness. She meets nurses where they are. Guiding them with patience and encouragement. Helping them grown, not just in skill but in confidence. She doesn't just correct she builds.
There is also something deeply personal and meaningful about Sharon's connection to this work. As a former NICU baby herself, she seems to carry an innate understanding of the vulnerability of our patients. She approaches every infant and family with a level of compassion that feels instinctive, as though she sees care through the eyes of the very patient she now serves. Sharon is responsible, respectful, and consistently goes above and beyond. She embodies integrity in every interaction, and her presence elevates the entire team. In a short time, she has adapted across roles and expectations to become exactly what our unit needs- a steady, selfless and compassionate leader.
The DAISY Award nomination is a small gesture to recognize someone who gives so much of herself every single day. Sharon was clearly placed in this profession to love, serve and to support others- we are all better because of her.
