He truly cares about patients, but not only that, he cares about building relationships with caregivers in other departments.
I work up in Wasatch OB-GYN. We have pregnant patients who are struggling with hyperemesis gravidarum. We normally treat these patients acutely in clinic until we transfer them to infusion clinic or home health.
We recently started seeing that some of our patients are now having issues with keeping IV access with home health. I started thinking of my resources around the hospital and decided to call McKay-Dee Interventional Radiology. I had the pleasure of speaking with Lance Brockbrader. He told me that their department is here to help clinics like ours that are in need.
It can be super hard to collaborate with other departments at times, but he proved that it can happen and be a smooth process. He told me to let them know when the patient is here, and someone would be right up. I called the IR nurse line when the patient got here, and he answered the phone with a hello. He was expecting us to call, and it felt so welcoming. He immediately came up to help us, and I am forever thankful for this collaboration.
He truly cares about patients, but not only that, he cares about building relationships with caregivers in other departments. He removed barriers between departments, improved patient experience and outcomes, his communication is clear and, most importantly, kind, and he has strengthened department relationships. Way to go for being a perfect example for your team!
