Jessica, I tell you, she was a darn good nurse.
I would like to recognize a nurse who recently cared for my father-in-law during his hospital stay.
From the moment she entered the room, she brought such a positive and reassuring presence. I knew we were in good hands! She took the time to explain that she would do everything possible to keep him comfortable and ensure he received the best care. Her compassion immediately put our family at ease during a stressful time.
What stood out most to me was not only the care she provided to my father-in-law, but the way she included our entire family in his care. She treated us with kindness, patience, and respect, making us feel heard and supported. She treated us like humans, rather than just another one of her patients. She took a little bit of the pressure and stress we were feeling and put it onto her own shoulders.
She also had a nursing student with her, and despite how busy she most likely was, she took the time to acknowledge the student and involve them in the care. She took the time to explain things and guide them rather than rushing. It was clear she was not only an excellent nurse, but also a thoughtful mentor to our future nurses.
My father-in-law kept saying, "Jessica, I tell you, she was a darn good nurse," and he expressed how much he wanted her to be recognized. I assured him that I would find a way to tell our story so she could be acknowledged for the incredible care she provided.
If I ever returned to that unit, I would want a million nurses like her to care for my family and me. Her personality and bright energy truly radiated throughout the room. She made a lasting impression on not only me, but my family through her compassion.

I would like to recognize Jessica, who cared for my mom because she made an unforgettable impact on our family during a very vulnerable time.
Spending a holiday in the hospital is difficult, but the way she cared for my mom brought comfort, dignity, and hope to all of us.
My mom told us that this nurse treated her like a human being, not just another patient. She took the time to truly see her, listen to her, and talk to her in a way that made her feel valued and supported. Instead of rushing through tasks, she spent time helping Mom get up and walk the halls, encouraging her gently and celebrating small steps of progress. That extra effort meant so much, especially on a day when many people were home with their families.
My dad was with my mom throughout the day, and he was incredibly grateful for the nurse's patience, kindness, and calm presence. She answered questions, made sure my mom was comfortable, and eased both of their worries. She balanced professionalism with genuine compassion in a way that truly stood out.
Her actions went far beyond routine care. She gave our family peace on a day that could have been filled with stress.
For these reasons and many more, I am nominating her. Her dedication, empathy, and willingness to go above and beyond made a lasting difference for my mom and our entire family, and we are deeply thankful for everything she did.
