I would like to nominate Nurse Barbara Cone to receive the Extraordinary Nurse Educator DAISY Award. She is a resolute nurse leader in Richland School District One and is very deserving of this honor.

As the director of Student Support Services in our district, I have had the distinct pleasure of working alongside Nurse Cone. She serves as a Float Nurse in the Nursing Services Department, a role she takes seriously and continues to strengthen through her work. Nurse Cone is a valued member of the team and ensures that all school nurses as well as students and other stakeholders receive the support needed.

Ms. Cone provides orientation for fill-in agency and substitute nurses and for new full-time school nurses. The time, care, and preparation she puts into the training materials shows how clearly she sees the importance of students, their safety, and their care. In addition, she supports schools in the school nurse's absence and assists with school-based health room audits, job fairs, and other community events and clinics.

To further her professional development, Nurse Cone participates in professional development opportunities both locally and nationally. She has successfully completed the South Carolina Public School Nurse Leadership Program and recently earned her credentials as a Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN).

Ms. Barbara Cone consistently demonstrates exceptional effectiveness as a nurse leader, educator, and dedicated advocate for students. I strongly recommend Ms. Cone for selection as a recipient of the DAISY Award for an Extraordinary Nurse Educator. She exemplifies collaborative teamwork, unwavering commitment to excellence, and outstanding leadership in school nursing education.
