I'm not even sure where to begin or if my words will do her justice. Mickie Haas is the kind of nurse everyone should strive to be like. She goes above and beyond every single shift for every one of her patients.

Recently, a patient went on hospice. He and his family knew his time was short. On Friday, Mickie helped the patient answer the phone in his room, and he was able to speak with his daughters. One of whom lived in Hawaii. The following Monday, the patient passed. Had it not been for Mickie, the daughter wouldn't have been able to say her proper goodbye.

In the nursing profession, it is all about the little things to show someone you care. Mickie sets the standard for everything a nurse should be kind, compassionate, trustworthy, hardworking, an advocate and so much more.

During my nursing career, I have worked alongside many nurses. Any time I work with her, I know it will be a shift I can make it through with her on my team. I'm proud to not only call her my coworker but also my friend.
