The 4 Hope team is writing this Daisy nomination for Linda Avila, a dedicated nurse who has spent the last 43 years taking care of thousands of children and their families!!

To know Linda is to love and respect her. Linda graduated from the Cook County Hospital RN diploma program in 1980. Linda then went on to obtain her BSN as well as become a Certified Pediatric Nurse! Many contributed to this Daisy nomination because Linda’s professionalism and love of children made such a lasting impact on them.

Here are some of the heartfelt comments said about Linda and the impact that she has made in the field of pediatric nursing at ACH, and why she is so deserving of the Daisy Award. For more than forty years, Linda has been part of the heart & soul of our unit. Her career has been defined not only by exceptional patient care but by the countless lives she has touched. Aside from her years of remarkable bedside care, Linda has been a guiding light for generations of nurses.

For many of us, she has been more than a coworker. She has been a mentor, a teacher, and a source of wisdom. She has a way of offering thoughtful advice and guidance not only in nursing but in life skills alike. Throughout decades of change in healthcare, Linda has remained a constant. Her experience, kindness, and calm presence have shaped the culture of our team - not to mention her strong sense of humor. She truly represents the best of nursing. Linda has led with not only her clinical expertise but with her heart; she sets the gold standard for what it means to be a nurse. She is a loyal and dependable teammate. She is often seen lifting those around her, no matter who they are. She mentors and supports those around her.

This Daisy recognition is not just an award, but a reflection of a career that has been dedicated to the care of her patients in the community. It is defined by excellence, kindness, and commitment to her patients and team.  Throughout her career, Linda has consistently gone above and beyond to provide not just clinical excellence, but genuine human connection. She treats every patient with respect, compassion, and dignity, ensuring they feel heard during some of their most vulnerable moments. Her calm presence has comforted countless families, and her advocacy has made a lasting impact. Through her years as a nurse, Linda has witnessed changes in technology, practice, and healthcare systems, yet her dedication to her patients has not changed. Her impact extends beyond the walls of the hospital and will continue through the many nurses she has influenced. 

In conclusion, I sincerely hope that the Daisy committee considers Linda Avila a Daisy award winner. She has had such a significant and impactful career as a pediatric nurse. She has mentored 100’s of novice nurses to become the successful pediatric nurses that they are today. Linda showcases what a true nurse should be. The patients and their families have been so lucky to have her as their nurse. She is an advocate for safety and well-being for our patients as well as her teammates!! She is in the hearts of the 4 Hope Team!!
