Marshana cared not only for my physical injuries, but for my mental well‑being as well.

I spent nearly two weeks in the Burn ICU following a kitchen fire, after being flown in from Bozeman, MT. This experience was the scariest and most traumatic event of my life. Marshana was one of my first nurses, and she quickly became my favorite nurse I have ever had. She is incredibly knowledgeable, funny, supportive, and compassionate. I remember her making me a little goody basket out of random things she found on the unit—markers, coloring books, silly fidget toys, and even a friendship bracelet. She truly felt like my best friend while also being the best nurse possible.

Marshana cared not only for my physical injuries, but for my mental well‑being as well. More than once, she stopped by my room even when she wasn’t assigned to me that day, just to make sure I was doing okay. She played jazz music and used a light projector during my wound care. The pain was unbearable, but her presence made it a little easier. Small acts like these made my stay far more bearable—at times, I even felt happy.

When I was in her care, I wasn’t stressed, worried, or agitated—and neither was my family. Marshana eased their fears and reassured them every single day. Throughout my stay, I was cared for by many nurses, but Marshana was the one who stood out the most. Even after being discharged, I still look forward to seeing her at my follow‑up appointments.

My mom, who works in the Cardio ICU at a nearby hospital, has mentioned several times how impressed she was with Marshana’s consistent adherence to proper protocols. Before my accident, I was on the pre‑nursing track but had been feeling discouraged in my studies. After being in Marshana’s care, she inspired me to pursue my nursing education again. She is truly the best nurse ever and a true DAISY Nurse!
