I have been a patient with Kaiser for many years. Since 2017, I have had several heart conditions. Having cardiac asthma has challenges, and recently, I needed to come to Kaiser via ambulance. I did get admitted and wasn’t feeling well with shortness of breath and wheezing. Arriving Thursday and more after on Sunday, I was very tired, anxious, and frustrated with myself. Monday, I had a new nurse named Michael. I felt a calming presence, and he was patient, kind, and understanding. He slowly explained the medicines to me, even though most of them I take regularly. I shared my struggles with the fear of eating food because I really have to watch my sodium. He gave me tips for meal planning and portion control. I felt comfortable and safe, but I enjoyed that he was my nurse the next day. I shared that he should be a teacher of some level. He made such an amazing impact, and I think all patients that he is assigned to are lucky. If I do have to visit again, I hope I get Mike because he was wonderful, honest, explained slowly, resourceful, and will help keep you on track for a successful recovery. Mike truly has a passion for his patients and wants success for our health. Thank you, Mike!
