She is a one-of-a-kind nurse. She has a unique ability to stay goal-oriented and manage time while still treating her patients with dignity and compassion. She teaches her team skills like trading out gowns to protect her patients’ modesty, communicating with patients, and showing compassion. She keeps her patients safe by always being aware of her surroundings, what drips are being given, investigating patients’ baselines, and staying up on skin assessments. She treats all patients with respect, no matter their age or station in life. 
I have witnessed patients transform under her care. An older dementia patient who was combative and confused ended the shift calm and smiling. A younger man trusted her based on the care she had given, so when faced with a hard decision, he knew she would follow through. Time and time again, Marilyn reminded me what all we were doing this for. Despite the days that can be rough in healthcare, Marilyn never compromises on the passion she has for patients, and is an excellent representation of what a nurse should be.
